How to Set Up a Clean Meta Creative Test

How to Set Up a Clean Meta Creative Test visual guide

If the aim is to learn which creative works, keep the other important variables stable. Otherwise the winning result may come from a different audience or delivery condition rather than the advert itself.

Structure the test

  1. Write one hypothesis, such as demonstration creative will reduce cost per purchase versus a static product image.
  2. Use the same objective, optimisation event, audience, offer and landing page.
  3. Change one meaningful creative variable.
  4. Give each version enough budget and time to collect useful results.
  5. Check spend distribution because Meta may favour one advert quickly.
  6. Judge hook metrics, clicks, landing-page behaviour, purchases and contribution, not CTR alone.

A losing advert can still contain a strong hook or product demonstration worth reusing. Record what changed, the date, spend and result so the next test builds on evidence. Do not call a winner from a handful of purchases.

After arriving at a fork in the road in my career I decided to take the plunge and wander purposefully, with determination, into the maelstrom of consultancy in online sales. It's been the most exciting decision I've ever made and I've been able to work with some of the most interesting brands the UK has to offer. I specialise in the intersection of ecommerce and marketing, the part of the Venn diagram that eCommerce & Marketing people don't like to occupy because it takes a lot of plate spinning - this is where I thrive.
