Stop Guessing Which Creator Content Will Work During Peak

Creator content becomes more expensive and more important during peak, yet many beauty and fashion brands leave testing until the promotional period has already started. Products are sent late, briefs are built around discount messages and paid media is expected to scale whichever videos happen to arrive first, leaving the business with very little evidence about what actually makes a customer stop, understand the product and buy.

October should be used as a learning period. Test different products, problems, demonstrations, creator profiles and levels of explanation while there is still time to act on the result. The aim is not to find one perfect video, it is to identify repeatable patterns that can be used across more creators and adapted when the peak offer launches.

Beauty content often works when the result is visible and the application is easy to understand, while fashion content may need stronger fit context, styling ideas and movement. The brief should give the creator a clear customer problem, the proof available and the points that must be accurate, without scripting every sentence until the content sounds like an advert read by somebody who has never used the product.

Performance should be reviewed beyond views. Look at watch behaviour, product clicks, add-to-basket, conversion, refunds, comments and the questions customers ask. A video with a large reach may attract curiosity without purchase intent, while a smaller piece of content can explain the product well enough to create more profitable orders.

Creator-level reporting also needs to account for content volume and product fit. One creator may produce several usable videos and improve after feedback, while another generates one large spike that cannot be repeated. Keep a record of the hook, format, product, audience, offer and outcome so the team can see patterns rather than relying on memory.

Once a useful format appears, create variations rather than simply increasing spend behind the original forever. Change the opening, objection, demonstration or use case while keeping the commercial idea intact. This builds a bank of assets and reduces the risk of one piece of content becoming fatigued during the most competitive weeks.

Usage rights and paid amplification should be agreed before content is needed. Make sure the brand knows where the asset can run, for how long, whether it can be edited and how creator approval will work. Sorting this out after a video performs wastes time and can create avoidable disputes.

The peak offer should then sit on top of proven product content, not replace it. A discount may improve conversion, but the creator still needs to show why the product matters. Content that only announces thirty percent off has very little value once the event ends and gives the customer no reason to remember the brand.

Use October to learn what customers respond to, then take those lessons into November with enough creative volume to keep testing. Peak is the time to scale evidence, not begin searching for it.

After arriving at a fork in the road in my career I decided to take the plunge and wander purposefully, with determination, into the maelstrom of consultancy in online sales. It's been the most exciting decision I've ever made and I've been able to work with some of the most interesting brands the UK has to offer. I specialise in the intersection of ecommerce and marketing, the part of the Venn diagram that eCommerce & Marketing people don't like to occupy because it takes a lot of plate spinning - this is where I thrive.
