A website retargeting audience lets Meta identify people who visited selected pages during a defined period. It is useful for separating warm visitors from prospecting audiences, but only when the Pixel or dataset is collecting the right page activity and consent rules are respected.
Allow the audience time to populate, then check its availability and estimated size. A very small or unavailable audience may reflect low traffic, broken events, restrictive consent or an incorrect URL rule.
When using the audience, keep acquisition and retargeting reporting separate. Audience size is not a performance result, so judge the campaign using purchases, incremental value, frequency and margin rather than assuming every attributed conversion required retargeting.
Choose the correct Pixel or dataset, retention window and inclusion rule, then add exclusions such as recent purchasers where the campaign requires them. Audience size takes time to populate and depends on consent and matchable events.
